| At the turn of the last century, George Vanderbilt traveled the globe and purchased well over 300 rugs for use in his home, Biltmore Estate. Today Capel Rugs is pleased to present Biltmore Select Bidjar, our reproduction area rug of one of these beautiful hand knotted carpets. Our artisans in India have painstakingly recreated the original pattern and updated the color palette in classic reds and indigo blues. 100% wool. A Capel hand knot offers a unique kind of beauty. Each area rug is hand-crafted by expert weavers who are experienced at hand knotting traditional, contemporary and transitional patterns. The tradition of hand knotting excellence has been passed down through many generations and is true art form. Our family's passion for area rugs started in 1917 when A. Leon Capel introduced our very first braided rug. More than 90 years later, Capel Braids-American Originals are still crafted in our North Carolina mills with the finest wool, cotton, and performance blend fibers. In later years the need for a more diverse product line grew, and Capel Rugs responded by offering imported collections. Today our variety of unique area rug designs and constructions are sold through retailers, private label catalogs and stores worldwide. |
